Cabbage Tree Cafe is a lovely spot to stop for coffee and snacks in New Zealand. Their Kiwi Date Scone with a black coffee is easily one of the best breakfast combinations I had during my trip — they really make it special here. One thing I loved is their unique tradition: visitors leave behind memorable notes and experiences, which gives the cafe a warm and personal feeling. The staff are friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. They also have a great variety of cookies to choose from. Overall, a perfect place to relax, enjoy a snack, and have a good coffee break while traveling.

The place has a relaxed vibe. There’s a big TV that shows the FIFA world cup. I can imagine the place like a tavern where people convene to watch major sports events. The staff are cordial. The food is alright, and the price is reasonable for the portion. I cannot say that the food is exceptional.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What a cool little café! The graffiti-covered walls and furniture give it heaps of character and create a relaxed, quirky atmosphere that's unlike anywhere else. It's one of those places where you can happily sit, look around, and take it all in. The food was absolutely brilliant. The green-lipped mussels were fresh, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavour. Great coffee, friendly service, and an all-round welcoming vibe. We'll definitely be back. If you're after great food and a café with a unique personality, this place is well worth a visit.

A quirky cafe with heaps of character. Good food selection from the cabinet or menu offerings. Professional barista coffee. Licensed bar. Old school tables or large wood tables give the atmosphere a bohemian feel. The walls covered in customer notes. Gas fire in the corner keeps everything toasty in winter. A good stop in Tirau.

Stopped over for a break and had a lovely lunch here. Had the grilled chicken on focaccia and a warm prawn salad. They were so good. Worth trying.
